The probability of requiring a medical evacuation is low, however, helicopter evacuations are very expensive. Therefore, comprehensive travel medical insurance is recommended, especially for those who reside outside of British Columbia. (BC residents with valid Provincial MSP insurance are reasonably well covered for most medical evacuations within the province.)
Participants who reside elsewhere may wish to check if their medical insurance would cover evacuation costs from remote wilderness areas in Canada.
We recommend trip cancellation insurance. If you must cancel for medical reasons, trip cancellation insurance could reimburse travel expenses and course fees. Some insurance policies also reimburse travel expenses in the unlikely event that we must cancel a course.
Trip cancellation insurance is optional. In some circumstances, it may only be purchased within a day or two of paying the deposit.
